1. What is a laser ceramic nozzle holder / ceramic ring used for?
It is the ceramic insulating part that sits between the cutting head body and the nozzle. It does three jobs: (1) holds the nozzle firmly in position; (2) electrically insulates the nozzle from the head body so the nozzle works as the measuring electrode of the capacitive height sensor (auto-focus / anti-collision system); (3) in a collision, the ceramic breaks first to protect the cutting head body, lens and expensive optics. It is a normal consumable part of any fiber laser cutting head.
2. Is this ceramic ring original or aftermarket? Does it fit my cutting head?
A. We supply both OEM-compatible replacements manufactured to the original dimensions and, where available, genuine spare parts. Our ceramic rings cover Precitec (e.g. P0494-752-00001 for ProCutter / Procutter series) and Raytools (e.g. 120274100B, 120515092A, 120515093A for BM110, BT240 and similar heads), as well as other common brands. To confirm fit, please tell us your cutting head brand/model and the original part number, or send a photo of your old part.
3. How do I know which ceramic ring / nozzle holder to order?
Check the markings on your old ceramic or your cutting head manual. Our part naming shows the key dimensions, e.g. D17.1 H14.5 M6 = 17.1 mm outside diameter, 14.5 mm height, M6 thread; D32 M11 H12 = 32 mm OD, M11 thread, 12 mm height. If you are not sure, measure the old part or send us a photo with a ruler — we will match the right one for you.
4.After installing a new ceramic ring the machine shows an error or does not recognize the nozzle. What should I do?
Follow this order: (1) Verify the part number and dimensions match your head model. (2) Power off, disconnect gas, clean the metal contact pins and the mounting surfaces of both the head and the ceramic (no oil, no dirt). (3) Reinstall the ceramic body and the nozzle, making sure they seat fully. (4) Restart the machine. (5) Perform the height/calibration procedure for your capacitive sensor. (6) If the alarm remains, check the error code shown on the height controller box and contact us with the code and photos.
5. What is the correct way to replace the ceramic ring?
1) Turn off the laser and gas supply. 2) Remove the nozzle and the old ceramic carefully. 3) Clean the contact area with a lint-free cloth (avoid touching the ceramic surface with bare fingers — oil affects insulation and signal). 4) Fit the new ceramic body until it seats fully, then install the nozzle. 5) Power on and run the calibration procedure for the height sensor. 6) Make a test cut before production. After any crash/collision, always inspect the ceramic before restarting.
6. How long does a ceramic nozzle holder last? When should I replace it?
It is a consumable part; service life depends on cutting conditions and how often the head hits the plate. Replace it when you see cracks or chipped edges, slag sticking that cannot be cleaned, unstable height/nozzle sensing signals, or after any collision. We recommend keeping 3-5 pcs in stock per machine to avoid downtime.
7. What is the MOQ? Can I get samples? What about lead time and packaging?
Samples are available for testing and we are glad to send a quotation first. MOQ and lead time vary by specification — please check the product page or ask us for a quotation with your quantity and destination, and we will confirm packaging and shipping options (express / air / sea) accordingly.
